Non-profit founder Stronghold uses OpusClip to boost their social presence
Rebecca Xu
Hey, really appreciate your time today. Can you first tell us a bit about yourself?
Sure. My name is Stronghold, and I live in the Neatherlands. I'm the CEO of The Plural Association, a non-profit that is all about helping plurals find community. Plurality is an umbrella term for people with disassociative identity disorder, specified disassociative disorder, and non-disorder forms of the same experience. We have nine goals, and most of them are around education and advocacy for our community. I have DID, and everyone in our team also has DID. We are all volunteers.
I founded it in early 2020, two weeks before the COVID lockdown. Because of that, we had to stop all of our offline activities and went online. But it's great for us, as we are a niche community, and we can find a strong presence online. We do online events and meetups with people who have similar experiences.
Great. How did you find out about OpusClip?
I saw it in a Twitter thread. Someone was talking about your product. We had just finished our biggest conference of the year, the Plural Positivity World Conference with a thousand visitors. And we had 50 videos, with each of them around 1-2 hours. What we usually do was directly post the videos to YouTube, and that's it. But for social media, posting a YouTube link doesn't work very well.
When we found your software, I was skeptical at first, because I've tried similar software and they did not really work. So I was very surprised when I used OpusClip and it worked. I uploaded an hour long video and got like 20 clips. Not all of them work, but a lot of them did, which was amazing.
Why do you want to make short videos?
I wouldn't have done it without your software. I would have not. It was just too much work. After that conference, I was too tired and I needed like a month of rest to recover haha. So usually I would just upload the whole conference to YouTube and that's it. But now it's super easy. I just put the video into OpusClip, and send the clips to my social media manager and they can post them online.
"We can have a year's worth of content easily and post every day by using OpusClip to repurpose our long videos."
How much has OpusClip helped for your social media growth?
We shared the videos on social media, and people were super responsive. They engaged with our posts, and a lot of people also shared the videos, because they were the highlights of the conference, and everyone remembered the emotional aspects of that. There was a huge spike on how often the videos created by OpusClip were shared compared with other videos made manually. Because our original videos were all super long and it was hard for me to find the engaging part just by hand. The fact that your AI can help me do it is top-notch. It was easy and super fast. It saved me hours.
And what I really like is that, well our videos are mostly educational content and are super long. It can be tricky to cut educational content as sometimes it will be out of context and can get distorted. But I saw in OpusClip that I can tell your AI to choose a topic to focus on. I think that's a really useful feature for us,
"OpusClip saves so much time and we would've never done it were it not for your software."
It's very heartwarming to hear that technology can help non-profits with their cause. I wonder how social media helps you advocate what you are doing right now?
We are on social media. Our non-profit is on the internet, hence we are on social media. We are all volunteers, and the only person that I hired is a social media manager, because it's super important to have consistency in our social media presence, which is also crucial for algorithm.
It was hard for us in the past, because sometimes we struggled to make content for our social media. But OpusClip makes it so much easier. We now have something to share every week for more than 10 weeks. That's brilliant. And our presenters are super grateful to see these many clips, and many have asked me "Hey can you share the clips with me, so that I can also share them on social media?"
What is the biggest value OpusClip has brought to you?
The biggest value is the time-saving aspect. Editing a video is more work than creating a video. And because of that we've never done this kind of short videos. So this adds to a whole new aspect to our social media workflow. It brings us a lot of value, and we are also thinking about using it to create promotional shorts for the course videos that we sell.
