OpusClip triples Viral Nation's output and creates a short with 6 million views

Hi Dylan! First off, can you give me an introduction of yourself, and what your team does within Viral Nation?
Of course. I'm Dylan Scance, the head of creator studio at Viral Nation, a global digital and social agency group that pioneered influence marketing. Our team develops, produces, distributes, and edits content for over 65 creators within Viral Nation and other creators externally from Viral Nation.
How did you first come across OpusClip?
I was introduced by our vice president, Damien, who I know has a relationship with you. And it made a lot of sense for our team to utilize the tool.
As an agency that's actively trying to produce content for the creators that you're working with, how has this tool helped you guys?
For us, it allows us to quickly scale the amount of content we have going out on a daily basis. When we look at it from a long term perspective, we're putting out roughly about 250 videos per month. When you look at cutting those clips down into reels and shorts, it is obviously a very difficult workload. So OpusClip essentially allows us to exponentially increase our output while keeping our resources internally relatively thin.
"For one of our clients, he has over 6 million views on one video that's created by OpusClip. "
That makes perfect sense. In terms of specific results, can you tell me a little bit about what are some of the ways that you guys have used it?
First and foremost we've been able to triple our output on short form clips by repurposing our longer form YouTube videos.
And I know that the shorts performed really well. For one of our clients, he has over 6 million views on one video that's created by OpusClip. That's the second best performing short on his channel.
From the Viral Nation standpoint, right, what are you looking forward to in the future? How do you plan on scaling OpusClip along with your business as you have more clients?
For Creator Studio, it's going to be integrated into our daily workflow pretty consistently. On the Viral Nation side, we represent roughly about 700 creators globally. We've been a little bit selfish in using it within Creator Studio, but one of my goals is trying to figure out how we can give the tool to creators that might use it on an individual basis rather than our division using it as a whole.
You mentioned that OpusClip has tripled your output. Would you say that your team has become more efficient in terms of just sifting through content, and getting content out there that you can then play around with?
Yeah, I think the time it takes for us to identify what works within a video to use it for short form is pretty time consuming. With a relatively lean team, we need to be as thoughtful about our time as possible. So yeah, it's definitely made us more efficient. We also have more options to choose from now in a shorter period of time. We can just pull three or four clips rather than just getting one from one of our editors, and we can actually make better decisions.
"The additional value that we get from shorts is it actually helps drive more traffic to our clients' channels."
Where do you see the value of shorts in the arsenal of the average content creator? How are you guys trying to use shorts for your creators?
Listen, I probably have now produced roughly about 300 videos. The additional value that we get from shorts is it actually helps drive more traffic to our clients' channels. That's where I think is the real value that we implore, especially when a baseball or football player is going outside of their traditional, which is typically what we do on YouTube. We want these guys to be outside of their comfort zone. It gives us more opportunity to have viewers drive back to that original piece of content or the channel as a whole.
Yeah, a lot of the fans are looking for those juicy sound bites in the first place, and if you can pull them in with those sound bites, then they're willing to check out the rest of the video for sure. My very last question to you is, based on your current usage and the results you've got, what is the one thing that you think is missing in order to be able to take OpusClip to the next level and really integrate it as a core part of your process?
I don't know. I think where we're at right now and from what I gather from the team, we're in a really great spot. The team does enjoy it and uses it pretty frequently.
Well, we think a lot about in the future, like translation and things like that. I'm sure that's coming for OpusClip. We personally haven't gotten too far into it. I know we have two clients that can definitely benefit from the translation feature.
All right. Thank you so much for your time. I appreciate it.
Same here. Bye.
